How to download Facebook videos in HD

Facebook publishes most videos in two renditions — an HD copy and a smaller SD copy. This downloader resolves both and lets you pick, so you get the best available quality rather than whatever the page decides to serve.

For public videos, pasting the link is all it takes. For private videos or posts only visible to friends, use the 'Private video? Paste page source' panel: extraction then runs entirely in your browser and your logged-in session is never sent to our servers.

  • Open the video on Facebook and copy the link — use the post's ⋯ menu → Copy link, or the browser address bar.
  • Paste it above and click 'Get Download Link'.
  • Choose HD from the quality dropdown for the highest resolution, or SD for a smaller file.
  • Click Download, or right-click the preview player and choose 'Save video as'.
  • For a private video, expand the page-source panel below the main box and follow the four steps there.
How do I download a private Facebook video?
  • Private videos are not reachable from our servers — that is the point of them being private. Instead, expand the 'Private video? Paste page source' panel underneath the URL box, then: open the video while logged in to Facebook, press Ctrl+U (Cmd+Option+U on Mac) to view the page source, select all and copy it, and paste it into the box.
  • The extraction runs completely in your browser using JavaScript. The page source — which contains your session data — is never uploaded to us. Only download private videos you have a right to save.
How do I download Facebook Reels?
  • Reels work the same as any other Facebook video. Tap Share → Copy link on the Reel, paste it above and click 'Get Download Link'. Reels are usually vertical 1080x1920 and come as a single combined video+audio file, so there is nothing extra to merge.
What is the difference between HD and SD here?
  • HD is Facebook's high-quality rendition, typically 720p or 1080p. SD is a heavily compressed copy, usually 360p or 480p, that Facebook serves on slow connections. HD gives a noticeably sharper file at several times the size — pick SD only if you are on limited mobile data.
Can I download videos from a private group or a friends-only post?
  • Not through the URL box, because our resolver sees the page as a logged-out visitor. Use the page-source panel instead, which works for anything you can personally view while logged in. Respect the poster's expectations — a friends-only video was not published for redistribution.
